BE Group invests more than 4.5 million euros in the Turku steel service center

BE Group is making the largest equipment investment in Finland in its recent history by renewing the long product preprocessing functions of the Turku steel service center. In the first phase, the sawing solution for 6m products integrated in the high storage will be renewed. The equipment supplier is the Dutch company Bewo. In the second phase, the entire operation of cutting long products will be renewed, when the Dutch Voortman sawing- machine line will also replace all the old band saws. In addition to traditional saw cutting, the new line is capable of performing versatile drilling and opening of pipes and beams, utilizing the data produced by customers' design programs. In addition, significant improvements are being made to the property's internal logistics and building technology.

The new investment will almost triple the preprocessing capacity of the Turku unit. The line solution designed on the "one lift" principle aims for a small number of handling times and enables a very fast and reliable delivery time promise, even for 18m products, even in high load situations. Together with our renewed enterprise resource planning system, the investment is also a significant investment in the company's digitalization development, says Production Director Ilkka Kontkanen.
